将两个或两个以上边疆期的指标或比率进行对比，以便计算出它们增减变动的方向、数额、以及变动幅度的一种分析方法。在具体运用趋势分析法时，一般有二种分析的方式：一是绝对数趋势分析。通过编制连续数期的会计报表，并将有关数字并行排列，比较相同指标的金额变动幅度，以此来说明企业财务状况和经营成果的发展变化。一般来讲，可以编制比较资产负债表，比较损益表以及比较财务状况变动表。二是相对数的趋势分析。会计报表中有许多重要的百分比指标，如各种周转率指标，偿债能力指标、投资报表率指标以及资产负债比例等。可采用环比动态比率和定期动态比率，环比动态指标分析等方法。
