形态特征:松科松属常绿乔木植物，高达30米，胸径达1米以上。树皮裂成块片，黄褐色。叶通常2针一束，稀3针一束或2、3针并存，粗硬，长6-15厘米，径1.2-1.5毫米，边缘具锐细齿。7月开花。球果卵圆形，长5-6厘米，熟时栗褐色，有光泽;种鳞的鳞盾肥厚隆起，有时微反曲，横脊明显，鳞脐凸起，常有刺尖。种子长4-6毫米，种翅基部有关节，易与种子分离，长约2厘米。
生境分布:生于海拔2900-3900(-4200)米的山地、峡谷、阶地，常组成纯林或与林芝芸杉等树混生。分布于西藏、云南、四川和青海。
用途:松针药用，具祛风活络、止痛安神之效。主治风湿疼痛、牙痛、跌打损伤等症。
