In this thesis, we explored a rapid and efficient method to synthesize 3-aryl-β-lactam containing various aryl groups on the C3 position via the Suzuki reaction between 3-halo-β-lactams and aryl boric acid.

A novel and convenient one-step method for the synthesis of 1,3,4,-Triaryl-substituted-3,4,5,6-tetrahydropyrimidin-2(1H)-ones (3) was developed by cyclization of aromatic isocyanates (1) with 3-arylamino-1-phenylpropan-1-ones (2) under refluxing of toluene.
