芸香科（rutaceae）
一般特性：灌木或小乔木，全部均秃净。
叶：叶为指状复叶，有小叶3枚，叶柄长2.5－4厘米，小叶纸质，矩圆形，有近对生而扩展的分枝，长2.5－6厘米，被小柔毛，花序柄短，边全缘，两面均秃净，花柱花序腋生，有近对生而扩展的分枝，长2.5－6厘米，被小柔毛。
花：花序柄短，花小，白色，直径约2毫米，生于短而纤弱的柄上，花瓣4枚，卵形，长不过1.5毫米，雄芯秃净，长约为花瓣之2倍，子房被毛，果由4个，分离的心皮所成，直径4－6毫米，间有退化为1－3心皮的，花期：夏季。
生态分布：印度菲律宾，日本，越南及中国南部。
毒 性：有小毒。小鼠腹腔注射10—20g／kg叶的水提取物，引起呼吸困难，攀爬力减弱、后肢无力、躯体伸张、腹部紧缩、抽搐死亡[a-25]。
备注：岭南采药录，味苦，性寒，消热毒，治铁打。发热，作痛。
