大小相等、方向相反、作用线不在同一直线上的一对力。力偶对物体产生转动效应。力偶的二力对空间任一点之矩的和是一常矢量，称为力偶矩。一力偶可用与其作用面平行、力偶矩相等的另一力偶代替，而不改变其对刚体的转动效应。由于力偶作用面具有方向性，须引入一空间力偶矩矢T，其方向线与力偶作用面垂直并按右手螺旋定则确定其指向（见图）。T的大小等于力和力偶臂（力偶的二力线间的垂直距离）的乘积。作用在刚体上的力偶矩矢是自由矢。作用在变形体上的力偶矩矢不能自由平移，否则会产生不同的扭转效应。力偶矩的量纲与力矩的相同。
