形态特征:杜鹃花科杜鹃花属灌木植物，高1-4米。叶革质，阔椭圆形或卵形，长7-15厘米，宽3-6厘米，顶端钝或圆形，具短尖头，基部圆形或钝或近心形，叶面无毛，暗绿色，叶背被淡黄色、锈棕色或黄褐色毡毛状毛被;叶柄长1.5-2厘米。5-6用开花，总状伞房花序具7-8朵花，花萼小，长1-2毫米，具5个三角形或半圆形小裂片，边缘具睫毛;花冠宽钟形，长约4厘米，紫丁香色或白色或淡蔷蔽色，里面上方多少具紫色斑点，裂片5，长1.5厘米，宽2厘米，顶端微凹;雄蕊10，不等长。
生境分布:生于海拔3150-4700米林下或灌丛中。分布于西藏南部。克什米尔地区、尼泊尔至印度也有。
