性质:赋予宿主细胞对抗菌物质有耐受性的一类基因。通常由基因突变产生,如链霉素能与敏感菌株的核蛋白体30S小亚基结合,抑制细菌蛋白质合成。但是接触一定时间后,可因基因突变产生结构改变了的核蛋白体,使链霉素不能与之结合而失效。抗药基因还包括质粒所携带的抗药基因,常常是为特异分解此药物的酶编码的基因。带有抗药基因的质粒也称R因子或R质粒。R因子除能遗传子代外,还能通过噬菌体转导和细菌间的接合传布而产生新的耐药菌株。此外,耐药菌株溶解后释出的DNA还可重组进入敏感菌染色质中。
