是向一侧自然侧卧，上面的下肢向前屈曲，下边的下肢向后微屈，手臂屈曲放于身旁，髋部向后移，胸前及两腿间各置一枕。临床上用于自然侧卧、灌肠、体位引流、预防肠粘连或褥疮患者更换体位等。有学者将侧卧位分为三式：①侧卧位一式体位姿势。患者左侧(或右侧)卧于检查床上，两上肢放于胸前，头部垫一薄枕，两膝微屈。适用于背部、右(左)腰部、右(左)下肢等部位检查。②侧卧位二式体位姿势。患者左侧(或右侧)卧于检查床上，两膝部尽量屈曲于腹部，头部尽量屈曲，两上肢环抱于膝部。③侧卧位三式体位姿势。患者左侧(或右侧)卧于检查床上，两腿微分开，下面的腿稍弯曲，上面的腿伸直。适用于腹部、背部、腰部、脊柱、骨盆测量等检查。
