   形态特征: 小檗科小檗属落叶灌木植物,高达2米。幼枝淡红色,老枝淡灰红;刺粗状,三分叉,长1-3厘米。叶倒披针形,长1-2.5厘米,宽5-7毫米,全缘,有时每边具1-3刺状小锯齿。5月开花,总状近伞形花序基部常有数花簇生,长1-2.5厘米,具花4-8朵,花梗长8-15毫米。花黄色,外轮萼片椭圆形,长5毫米,宽2.8毫米,内轮萼片倒卵形,长5.5毫米,宽4毫米 花瓣狭倒卵形,长4.8毫米,宽2毫米。果长圆形,红色。
   生境分布:生于海拔3600-4400米的山坡灌丛中或草坡、石缝、地边。分布于西藏。  
   用途:根药用,提制黄连素,治口腔炎、咽喉炎、结模炎、急慢性肠炎、痢疾等症。
