Drug-resistant infections,opportunistic infections,and hospital infections are on an increase tendency;therefore,epidemiology dealing with classical infectious diseases can no longer meet the needs of the new situation,and transformation to the science of infect.
近年来,多种经典传染病发病率呈明显下降趋势,但艾滋病、传染性非典型肺炎、人类禽流感及人类猪链球菌感染等新发感染病成为新的公共卫生问题,耐药菌感染、机会性感染及医院内感染亦呈逐年增多趋势,研究经典传染病的传染病学已不能适应新形势的需要,从传染病学向感染病学的学科改革成为客观必然。

传染病著作，时逸人著。刊于1952年。本书系在《中国急性传染病学》基础上再次修订，并将《传染病预防法》并入而成。罗列急、慢性传染病30种，将每一病症分定义、病原、病理、症状、诊断、预后、并发症、鉴别诊断、预防、治法等。论述症状采用西医学说，诊断、方药则以中医理论为主，在治法中增入西医特效疗法一节。立论简明扼要，治法便于应用。有千顷堂书局排印本。
