是一组多病源多因素引起的疾病，是造成小儿营养不良、生长发育障碍及死亡的重要原因之一。在未明确病因之前，统称为腹泻病。诊断依据为①大便性状有改变：呈稀便、水样便、黏液便或脓血便。②大便次数比平时增多。根据病因可分为感染性和非感染性腹泻病，前者又分为霍乱、痢疾、其他感染性腹泻；后者又分为食饵性(饮食性）腹泻、症状性腹泻、过敏性腹泻和其他腹泻。最重要是明确病因，之后给以针对性治疗。
