【性状】
本品为无色的澄明液体。
【鉴别】
本品显镁盐与硫酸盐的鉴别反应（附录Ⅲ）。
【检查】
pH值 应为5.0 ～7.0 （附录Ⅵ H）。 热原 取本品，加注射用水稀释成每1ml 中含硫酸镁0.10g 的溶液，依法检查（附 录Ⅺ D），剂量按家兔体重每1kg 缓缓注射1ml ，应符合规定。 其他 应符合注射剂项下有关的各项规定（附录Ⅰ B）。
【含量测定】
精密量取本品适量（约相当于硫酸镁0.5g），置50ml量瓶中，用水 稀释至刻度，摇匀，精密量取25ml，照硫酸镁项下的方法，自“加氨－氯化铵缓冲液(p H10.0)10ml”起，依法测定。每1ml乙二酸四醋酸二钠滴定液(0.05mol/L)相当于12.32mg 的MgSO4.7H2O。
