性质:溶剂和溶液被一个只允许溶剂分子通过的半透膜(只能透过溶剂分子而不允许溶质分子透过的一种膜如羊皮纸)隔开时,纯溶剂会通过半透膜进入溶液。这个现象称为渗透(osmosis)。要阻止溶剂的进入溶液需要对溶液增加额外的压力。这个额外的压力称为溶液的渗透压。常用符号π表示。对于稀释溶液,渗透压π=cRT,其中c为溶液的体积浓度,T为热力学温度,R为气体常数。上式有时也被称为范霍夫渗透压公式。测量渗透压的一个重要用途是测定大分子的摩尔质量和分子量。
