指肌腱因外伤或其他原因引起断裂。临床上可分为完全性及不完全性断裂。一般肌腱完全性断裂后，该肌腱所支配的关节活动发生障碍。若该关节有两条或两条以上的肌腱支配其运动功能时，只断一条肌腱亦不会引起运动障碍。断裂后的肌腱要用手术缝合方法治疗，方能恢复其功能。
