美国农业部所属的兽医研究所。创建于1956年，位于艾奥瓦州埃姆斯市。主要从事畜禽疾病的研究。有工作人员 370余名，包括60多名高级研究人员。分细菌真菌病、病毒病、病理、病理生理、生物化学和生物物理以及生物防护 6个研究室。该中心还与美国24所大学和其他国家的兽医研究人员进行合作研究。主要从事约30种畜禽疾病的研究，其中有关牛布鲁氏菌病、牛乳腺炎、牛繁殖疾病、牛钩端螺旋体病、牛副结核病、牛白血病、牛呼吸道传染病、猪痢疾、伪狂犬病、猪细小病毒感染、猪传染性胃肠炎、羊进行性肺炎和真菌病等方面的研究，均处于世界领先水平。
