会计核算过程中直接形成的历史记录。包括：会计凭证(原始凭证与记帐凭证);会计帐簿(总帐、日记帐和各种明细帐);会计报表(旬报、月报、季报、年报)。会计档案可为宏观经济管理和监督提供可靠信息，为微观经济管理提供原始数据，为保护国家财产同一切违法乱纪和铺张浪费作斗争提供有力工具,为研究编写经济、财政史提供真实史料。财务会计部门和经办人应该按期将应当归档的会计档案全部移交档案部门，不得自行封包保存。档案部门接收保管的会计档案，原则上应当保持原卷册的封袋，个别需要拆封重新整理的，应当会同原财务会计部门和经办人共同拆封整理，以分清责任。不需要拆封重新整理的，只在原封面上加盖表明档号的戳记。各种会计档案的保管期限，分为永久保管和定期保管二类，从会计年度终了后的第一天算起。会计档案保管期满需要销毁时,由本单位档案部门提出销毁意见,会同财务会计部门共同鉴定，经过严格审查批准即可销毁。对于其中未了结的债权债务的原始凭证,应单独抽出,另行立卷，由档案部门保管到结清债权债务时为止。建设单位在建设期间的会计档案，不得销毁。
