性别定型说(sex typing theory)解释两性心理行为差异形成过程的社_会学习理论，渊源于行为主义学派。认为J胜别角色的获得是社会化的结果，是具有生物差异的男女婴儿通过社会化掌握特定性别角色的规范或行为模式。习得性别定型化行为有三种机制:(l)父母及其代理人要求儿童按照社会认可的符合其生物性别的男性化或女性化行为模式去行动，对表现出的适性行为给予强化，对表现出的不适性行为给予惩罚，从而施加了社会化压力，塑造了性别定型化的行为。(2)电视、报刊等大众传播媒介和周围的父母等成人给两性儿童提供子睦别角色榜样，儿童通过模仿同性榜样的行为，可在类同的情境中表现出相似的行为来，最后掌握相应的适性行为模式。模仿与强化也有相互作用，如男孩模仿父亲的行为就会受到鼓励。(3)两性儿童通过观察了解特定性别的行为和行为的后果，作为一定的信息加以存储，需要时才提取。性别定型说较为强调外部条件的作用，对内在过程有所忽略。 (葛香嘉撰高玉样审)
