性质：又称羟苯哌嗪。白色结晶性粉末，得自苯溶液，熔点105℃或108℃，溶于稀乙酸、氯仿。S型为白色因体，得自丙酮，熔点98～100℃。R型晶亦得自丙酮，熔点104～105℃。以苯胺为起始原料制得。本品通过对支气管平滑肌产生松弛作用，从而达到改善肺功能。本品为中枢性镇咳药，亦有镇静作用。副作用毒性较低，可见嗜睡等副作用，大剂量对敏感病人可发生体位性低血压。
