一项简便而重要的体格检查。检查者右手示指戴乳胶指套，涂上润滑剂，用该指前端指腹轻压肛门片刻使病人适应，再用下压的动作轻轻将手指压入肛管直肠内，先注意肛管括约肌的松紧度，然后注意肛管直肠壁及其周围有无触痛、肿块或波动感。指检时，可扪到直肠前壁外的前列腺或子宫颈，不应误认为是病理性肿块。该指检可扪及一些常见的病变情况如痔、肛瘘、直肠息肉、直肠癌，对及早发现直肠癌具有重要意义。
