shanqU扇区(sector)将磁道按某种方式划分成的基本数据存储区域。扇区是直接存取设备进行数据存取的最小单位。对磁盘驱动器而言，扇区的物理地址由磁头号(或盘面号)、柱面号(或磁道号)及扇区号三者组成。但这对用户很不方便，通常由操作系统统一地给每个物理扇区建立一个唯一标识符ID，称为逻辑扇区号，并在操作系统或接口部件中建立逻辑扇区与物理扇区的对应关系。 扇区划分有两种形式，即硬分区和软分区。硬分区是利用在磁盘上按等弧度距离所开的若干个孔或槽口产生索引及扇区脉冲信号来识别;软分区则设置一个索引标志，在索引标志之后，写上扇区标识符信号，寻址时由接口电路来识别。 盘面所分扇区的个数或长度及数据记录格式由盘面的物理特性、控制方式与精度以及格式化要求等因素决定。例如5.25英寸软磁盘，一般倍密度的每磁道划分成9个扇区，高密度的分为巧个扇区。在硬磁盘中，根据位密度情况，每一磁道可分成17或更多的扇区。
