      主要用于房屋墙体工程的预制混凝土块状制品。此外,还可用于组合楼板、挡土墙、基础、地面、路面、烟囱等,采用配筋砌体可建造高层建筑。与粘土砖相比,混凝土砌块具有原材料来源广、生产与施工效率高、节省能源与耕地等优点,有较大的发展前途。
  
  混凝土砌块按材料分为普通混凝土、轻混凝土砌块两大类,后者又分为轻集料混凝土、无砂混凝土和加气混凝土砌块等;按块型大小可分为小型、中型和大型三种,中型和大型砌块均需用机械(具)砌筑,其规格尺寸无明确规定,小型砌块则可用手工砌筑;按应用主要分承重与非承重砌块两大类,可在生产时使其带各种质感图案和彩色,达到饰面装修效果,也有专供装修用的非承重饰面砌块和其他特种功能的异型砌块。中国常用的承重砌块按抗压强度,可分为50、75、100、150号,非承重砌块一般在35号以下。
  
  各种砌块中应用最普遍的是混凝土小型空心砌块,其标准规格尺寸为190×190×390毫米,空心砌块以单排孔居多,外墙也有采用多排孔的。实心砌块大都用轻混凝土制成,普通混凝土的实心砌块多作辅助或特殊用途。混凝土小型砌块的块型小,生产工艺设备简单,便于机械化生产。成型方式分移动式和固定式两种,采用自然养护和加热养护。控制砌块质量的主要性能指标有强度、收缩、吸水率、外观与尺寸偏差等。
