This paper mainly summarizes the situation and development on hybrid electric vehicle battery management system,and focuses on the definition and methods of Ni-MH battery SOC estimation,the primary cooling and heating methods of the battery thermal management.

For improving the temperature evenness of battery pack,two approaches of local structural variations are proposed for the battery thermal management system of hybrid electric vehicle(HEV):one is to change the width of air passages,and the other is to adjust the angle between the side face of batteries and the side wall of both inlet and outlet air conduits.
