循环变动又称周期波动,是指现象在为期较长的时间内呈现出的跌宕起伏。它不同于趋势变动,不是朝着单一方向的持续运动,而是呈现涨落相问的波浪式起伏变动。它也不同于季节变动,季节变动也是有高有低的交替变动,但季节变动有比较固定的规律性,且变动周期一般在1年以内;循环变动的规律不那么固定,变动的周期通常在1年以上,周期的长短、变动形态、波动有大小也不固定。例如产品通常有导入期、成长期、成熟期、衰退期、替代期等经济寿命周期;又如经济增长中繁荣%26mdash;衰退%26mdash;萧条%26mdash;复苏%26mdash;繁荣的循环,是最常见的循环波动。
