利用金属或半导体的电阻值随温度变化的原理制成的传感器，是温度测量仪表中常用的一种温度测温元件。金属热电阻的电阻值随温度上升而增大，常用的有铂热电阻（测温范围为-200～＋850℃）、铜热电阻（-50～＋150℃）和镍热电阻（-60～＋180℃）3种。热电阻大多是用直径 0.04～0.1毫米的纯金属丝绕在片状或棒状的云母、玻璃、陶瓷或胶木骨架上制成的。在工业应用中它一般装在金属保护套管内，以防止损坏；也有做成铠装的。热电阻的外形与热电偶相似。铂热电阻复现性好，性能稳定，精确度高，在精密测温和控温中广泛应用。半导体热敏电阻也是常用的一种热电阻，它的电阻值随温度上升而减小。其特点是灵敏度高，体积小，反应速度快，但互换性较差，测温范围为-100～＋300℃。
