翻车

    中国一种古老的刮板式连续提水机械。又称龙骨水车。据《后汉书》记载,最初为东汉毕岚所发明。三国时马钧又加以农机翻耕改进,使结构更加轻巧,效率更高,从而扩大了使用范围。翻车是利用人力转动轮轴提水的,小型的用手摇,称为拔车;大型的用脚踏,称为踏车。翻车结构除车架外,主要是一具20尺×1尺×0.7尺的木板槽,槽中架设行道板一条,长度比槽板两端各短一尺,用以安装大小木轮。行道板是由刮板逐节用木梢子联接起来的,犹如龙的骨架,由人力驱动上端的大轮轴带动刮板,将水刮到木槽上端连续不断地流入田间。后来又发展成为牛转翻车以及水转翻车和风转翻车。
