苏联电影导演。苏联人民艺术家，1926年 8月12日生于库塔希。1943年～1946年在第比利斯戏剧学院学习，后进入苏联国立电影学院，1953年毕业。1955年他拍了首部影片《马格丹娜的小驴》(与Т.Е.阿布拉捷合导)。以后他的作品有《我们的院子》（1957）、《来自次赫涅迪的马雅人》（1960）、《沙乌利亚的烦恼》(1961)、《海上小径》（1963）、《士兵的父亲》(1965)、《啊，青年》(1969)、《树苗》(1973)等。赤赫依捷的作品大多取材于民间习俗,洋溢着生活气息,富于民族特色，并显示出格鲁吉亚民族特有的幽默感和乐观主义精神。他的作品对格鲁吉亚电影的发展有一定影响。1981年，赤赫依捷拍摄了影片《大地之子》，成功地塑造了一个无私地为人民服务的新型领导形像。由于这部作品，他于1986年获得列宁奖金。从1983年起，赤赫依捷和西班牙电影工作者合作,将世界文学名著《堂吉诃德》拍成9集电视片。
