神灭神不灭之争

    中国佛教和儒家之间的争论。佛教认为灵魂可以脱离肉体长存,为法身常住。儒家反对此说,认为肉体既亡,灵魂散尽,如春荣秋落,四季交替一样。东汉以后佛儒两家为此不断争论,有多本著述行世。南朝齐末儒生范缜著《神灭论》,提出精神要依形体而存,形亡则神亡,把两者关系譬之为刀刃和锋利的关系,确定了精神从之于形体的关系。此说引起朝野大哗,佛教徒起而攻难,梁武帝亲自作《敕答臣下神灭论》,神灭论之争达到高潮,仍不能驳倒范缜。梁以后形神关系的争论逐渐减少,但仍时有发生。
