蒙古古代流行的一种象棋,其形制与中国北宋初"八八象棋"类似。据清叶明澧《桥西杂记》载，蒙古象棋的棋制和着法是："局纵横九线，六十四罫。棋各十六枚：八卒、二车、二马、二象、一炮、一将，别以朱墨，将居中之右，炮居中之左，车，马、象左右列，卒横于前，棋局无河界,满局可行,所谓随水草以为畜牧也。其棋形而不字，将刻塔，崇象教也。象改驼或熊，迤北无象也。卒直行一罫至底，斜角食敌之在前者，去而复返，用同于车，嘉有功也。马横行六罫，驼可斜行八罫, 因沙漠之地,驼行疾于马也。车行直线,进退自由。群子环击一塔，无路可出。始为败北"。
