五峰三坪希望小学原由首届中国青年“五四”奖章获得者宋芳蓉在海拔1800多米的黄粮坪吊脚楼里创办，受到胡锦涛总书记的关注，并倡议成立了三坪希望基金救助大山中的贫困学生。为改善该校的办学条件，去年，在各级团委支持下，三坪希望小学从黄粮坪整体搬迁至海拔1100米的后河国家级自然保护区茅坪村。
三坪希望小学实施整体搬迁的消息牵动了张家港市委领导和该市骏马化纤股份有限公司董事长杨培兴的心，他们决定捐款新建三坪希望小学。
三坪张家港骏马希望小学一期工程总投资150万元，新建了教学楼、师生宿舍楼和综合用房。校园总面积6000平方米。学校实验仪器达到二类配备标准，现有图书6000余册。新学校解决了五峰三坪一带7个行政村农户子女上学难问题，现已有200多名学生就读，125名边远学生实行保育寄宿，该校将接受五峰全县贫困生寄读，并享受三坪希望基金的救助。
