一次严重的大气污染事件。1948年10月发生在美国宾夕法尼亚州多诺拉镇。该镇地处河谷，当地工厂和机车排放的多种有害气体与浓雾混合后笼罩地面，空气有刺激性气味，持续五天之久，使近六千人(占全镇人口的43%)发病，十余人死亡。学者推断二氧化硫及其氧化作用产物同大气中尘粒的结合是关键的致害因素。
