105 毫米防空炮开发完毕后, 莱茵金属于 1396 年着手开发口径更大的防空炮, 并于 1937 年开发完成. 于 1942 年投入量产. 和 105 毫米防空炮一样配备于重要城市, 及装设在火车车卡中成为流动防空阵地. 另外还有双联装的128 毫米防空炮 (128 mm flakzwilling) 装设在德国国内大城市及首都柏林的高射炮塔中, 大约生产 34 门。
