“那达幕”是黄南州河南县蒙古族最隆重的节日，时间大致在牛肥马壮的夏秋时节。大会期间有赛马、赛牦牛、射击、摔跤等比赛项目，还有民间弹唱、民歌对唱等活动。蒙古族自古以来就精骑善射。人们通常把善于驯马、赛马、射箭和摔足当作一项高强的本领来看待，对那些骑术高超、技艺出众的人，人们都很尊重。因此，赛马是那达慕盛大会的主要活动。赛马时，成百上千的牧民从四面八方汇聚到赛马场，一面观看比赛，一面擂鼓摇旗，助威呐喊。而骑手们则乘着自己精心喂养、精心打扮的骏马，同对手展开激烈的角逐，场上气氛热烈非凡。比赛结束后，对优胜者要给予重赏。“迎宾酒曲”盛满了高原人的一片真情，洁白的蒙古包象珍珠一般撒满泽曲河两岸，置身于蓝天白云下和绿草如茵的大草原，品尝着香喷喷的酥油奶茶，观赏着激烈而奇特的比赛，欣赏着粗犷美妙的蒙古族歌曲，令人心旷神怡。
