   海军中在水面遂行作战任务的兵种,航空母舰、战列舰、巡洋舰、驱逐舰、护卫舰艇、布雷舰、扫雷舰艇、登陆舰艇、猎潜艇、导弹艇、鱼雷艇等战斗舰艇部队和勤务舰船部队的总称。在有的国家简称水面部队。主要任务是攻击敌方海上兵力和岸上目标,支援登陆和抗登陆作战,保护或破坏海上交通线,进行海上封锁和反封锁作战等。通常按总队、支队、大队、中队的序列编制,有的以支队为最小建制单位。一般由技术战术性能相同的舰艇编成,也可由技术战术性能不同的舰艇编成。
