又称比重，是权衡每个商品项目重要性的统计指标。权数的总和一般为100或1000。在计算价格指数时，由于各个商品的性质不同，使用价值不同，价值量大小也相差悬殊，因此不能把每个商品的价格直接相加后进行比较；也不能把每个商品的价格变动幅度用简单算术平均法计算。必须首先确定这种商品的购、销额（或量）在购、销总额（或量）中所占的比重，作为计算价格指数的权数。
权数一般有固定权数和变动权数两种。固定权数指权数确定后在较长时期内使用；变动权数指权数随报告期（计算期）而经常调整变动。
