UV disinfection effect is not so steady on the untreated hospital wastewater, while UV disinfection for the secondarily treated wastewater can give an assurance that the number of fecal coliform in effluent is constant at 500 MPN/L, which meets the primary discharge standard.

The principals and features of UV and four chemical disinfection processes were introduced in this paper, and it was pointed out that UV disinfection may become a succedaneum of traditional chemical disinfection methods.
