补充资料：夏荷生(1899～1946)
苏州弹词艺人。浙江嘉善人。少年时，从伯父夏昑道学说《倭袍》，仅两月而昑道去世，又到上海商务印书馆排字房学徒，不久被辞退。于是立志学习苏州弹词，从演唱《描金凤》、《三笑》的名家钱幼卿学艺。出师后,声誉胜过乃师。后因未经业师同意收了徒弟,触犯行规,被开除出艺人行会组织光裕社,不准在苏州演出。后在上海参加润余社。由于他技艺出众,在钱幼卿死后,经观众要求和同道推荐，才复回苏州演出。夏荷生的说表,以叙述时一气呵成，火爆有力见长，所创"夏调"，高亢挺拔、一波三折，被誉为"海底翻"，"江南铁嗓"。《描金凤》的《换监托三桩》和《三笑》的《周文宾上堂楼》等书段均为其代表作。因说唱《描金凤》著名，世称"描王"。
