Study on reconsolidation characteristics of saturated soils;

Based on the theory of plain strain cylindrical cavity expansion in infinite soil and the theory of Biot consolidation, both the process of pile driven and the process of soil s reconsolidation around the driven pile are discussed, in which Modified Cam Clay model is employed.

As more and more underground projects are constructed, the surrounding soil is unavoidable to be disturbed, then it results in the reconsolidation settlement of the disturbed soil.

An experimental study on the reconsolidation volumetric behavior of saturated sand soil after dynamic loading shows that good correlativity exists between the reconsolidation volumetric strain, the excess pore water pressure, and the maximal shear strain induced by dynamic loading, and that the initial effective consolidation pressure has a great effect on the reconsolidation volumetric strain.
