Some problems relative to hydraulic calculation of serial submerged spur dikes have been studied on the fixed bed physical model of Sanxing Bank, and a calculation method of supposed roughness for water level of serial submerged spur dikes ispresented in the paper, which is very simple and useful, and in good agreement withmeasured data.
The formation mechanism of the scour pit of spur dike under the condition of non-submersion and main influential factors are analyzed, the physical diagram of squeezed flow upstream the spur dike and law of dikeaxial cross-sectional velocity distribution are set forth, based on which, the formula for the depth of local scour is established.
