性质:通常由于加入到金属基中。譬如:在Al合金中加入体积分数为30%,粒径为0.3μm的Al2O3颗粒,使材料在300℃时的拉伸强度仍达到220MPa,并且所加入氧化铝颗粒,还可促进致密化,而合金的电导率并不降低。目前,氧化铝颗粒增强铝、镁或钛合金正用于制备内燃机引擎。氧化铝颗粒也被加入到Ni-AlIC-221,制成金属间化合物基复合材料(IMCS)。氧化铝颗粒与基体具有很好的化学相容性,几乎不发生界面化学反应。这种复合材料的弹性模量比基体材料或普通Ni基合金要高出20%~30%。
