端州古城墙

广东仅存的完整古城墙,位于肇庆市区内人民南路一带,始建于宋代,呈长方形,周长280.2米,制高点在城北披云楼。目前城墙高出地面10米,城墙两侧由砖砌成,中间夯土,外围共有28个城垛,城砖规格达40多个品种,是历史上曾多次修葺的见证。当年广西壮族首领侬智高反宋,端州太守丁宝臣因无城墙防守,弃城而逃。侬智高失败后,官府于公元1053年始筑土城墙,至明末共修城墙十一次。清代又修葺了九次。新中国成立后历年都重视维修城墙,在江滨堤路建成之前,城墙起着防洪的作用,目前城墙基本完好。

交通:乘3路公交车到底就到了城墙脚下。此外9、10、17路皆能到达。
