| 问题小说 problem novel 为提出某种社会问题而创作的小说。在中国，它是五四时期开始出现的文学现象。当时以民主主义、社会主义两大思潮的传播为背景，形成了文学必须接触现实人生问题的启蒙主义主张。俄国文学、东欧文学、北欧文学特别是易卜生密切关心社会现实问题的进步倾向，也影响并促成了中国问题小说的兴盛。周作人说：“问题小说，是近代平民文学的出产物 。这种著作，照名目所表示，就是论及人生诸问题的小说。”(《中国小说里的男女问题》)由于作者思想倾向不同，初期问题小说中有一部分作品专以“美”和“爱”作为解决问题的钥匙，大部分则并不提供答案，是所谓“只问病源，不开药方”；而“不开药方”本身，也正是问题小说的特点之一。 问题小说在五四时期的流行，主要反映了大批知识青年的觉醒。它是当时思想启蒙运动的一种需要，又是当时思想启蒙运动的一种结果。后来，问题小说也体现着作家密切关心现实这一优良的传统。中华人民共和国建立后，赵树理就把自己的小说也叫做问题小说。在粉碎江青反革命集团后的新时期，许多作家解放思想，通过自己笔下的艺术形象，对以往的历史经验进行严肃的探索和总结，作品往往以其强烈的哲理性而引人深思，因而也被称之为问题小说。 |
