简介：
探明了以凌家摊遗址为中心，半径约2公里的范围内分布着6处新石器时代遗址和1处大型墓地，系一处规模较大的新石器时代晚期的聚落群。在凌家滩墓地中心的最高处发现新石器时代祭坛一座,面积约600平方米,由大小不一的石块和鹅卵石与粘土搅拌铺设而成,中间高四周低,平面为不规则圆角长方形;祭坛可分三层,分两次建成。44座墓葬中出土大量精美玉器,有玉人、玉龙、玉璜、璧、玉喇叭形饰、玉鹰、玉铲等，其数量之多、种类之丰富、雕琢之精湛为安徽省新石器时代考古的重大收获。其中玉人以浅浮雕技法制成,体态比例匀称,是我国发现时代最早的新石器时代人体玉雕塑；玉鹰、玉龙等造型独特，在制作思想、造型构思、工艺技术等方面都表现了崭新的观念,为长江中下游地区玉器的产生和发展提供了研究资料.石钻和与之伴出的一件正面磨成凹形的褐红色砂岩砺石,系石制加工工具，在我国新石器时代考古中属首次发现,对研究新石器时代制玉工艺有极为重要的意义。凌家滩文化出土的玉器钻孔技术尤为发达,是中国玉器发展史上的第一个高峰。祭坛和玉礼器的发现为探讨中国文明的形成提供了重要信息。
