武汉经济技术开发区第一中学(简称开发区一中)是由开发区管委会出资兴建，寄宿制公办完全中学。她位于开发区生活区中心地段的金湖花园内，东临法国工业园，南望神龙工厂，西靠318国道，北毗建设中的武汉体育中心，环境幽雅，交通便利，充满开发区现代气息。
武汉开发区第一中学1996年9月正式开学,现有初、高中六个年级30个教学班。校园内教学综合楼、行政楼、食堂、学生宿舍楼、科技楼等各类建筑布局合理，错落有致；田径运动场、篮球场、排球场、羽毛球场、网球场一应俱全；微机室、实验室、汽车教学实习基地、电教室、形体室、美术室、音乐室、劳技室、医务室、图书馆应有尽有。1997年一举通过“普九”达标验收。
