| 编组站 marshalling yard 从事铁路货物列车编组和解体作业的车站。铁路车站按技术作业性质分类的一种。编组站通常建在有大量列车编组和解体，以及铁路交会点处。在有铁路作业的港口和大型企业常建有港前和与企业接轨的编组站。站内配有机务段和车辆段，供办理列车到达作业用的到达线，办理列车发车作业用的出发线（或设兼有到达线和出发线功能的到发线），办理货物列车解体、 集结和编组作业用的调车线 （ 又称编组线），供调车机车牵出车列进行解体、编组等调车作业用的牵出线和驼峰等设施。
编组站的基本布置形式有到发场与调车场并列布置的横列式、到达场和调车场与出发场顺序布置的纵列式，以及二者混合布置的形式，即到达场和调车场纵列布置，而出发场和调车场并列布置。若上下行方向共用一套调车设备，称单向编组站；若上下行方向各自配备调车设备，称双向编组站。编组站按其在线路上的作用可以是路网性、区域性和地方性的；按调车设备的现代化程度可以是自动化、机械化和非机械化的。先进的编组站采用自动化系统，利用电子计算机控制编组站作业和处理数据资料。实现编组站自动化，可以提高作业效率和改善劳动条件。 |
