经常出现在画册、明信片上的长城——箭扣的走势比司马台更加富于变化和韵律;山势比慕田峪雄奇峻峭;构造墙体的是大块的白云岩,非常醒目。无论春夏秋冬、风云雨雪,各种光线下都能拍出美妙的照片。

箭扣就在慕田峪长城以西10公里,从慕田峪沿长城走过去,其间景致颇佳,还有著名的“刀把楼”(长城的一个小分岔,上建一座形制独特、规模很大的敌楼),以及“牛犄角边”(长城在一个山尖下舍近求远,兜了一个大弯,以占据制高点),但这么走的话等你到了箭扣肯定已是筋疲力尽了。若是从珍珠泉村龙潭大坝沿山涧向上,除了可以直接抵达著名的箭扣(本地也称“涧口”,形象倒是形象,只是没了诗意)以及“鹰飞倒仰”(形容山势陡峭,鹰飞到这里也不得不仰起来),还可以观赏龙潭和古长城砖窑遗址。山脚下平地泉水奔涌(水质极佳,灌装为“珍珠泉牌”矿泉水),泉水汇集成潭,“潭中鱼可百许头,皆若空游无所依”,那鱼就是著名的虹鳟鱼。潭下建有目前北方最大的虹鳟鱼养殖场。

●据说,箭扣附近有段长城,在通过一极险之处时,由于下方是数十丈深的悬崖,长城没有立脚点,古人便在此架设了两根粗铁梁,使长城在铁梁上凌空昂然而过。但是至今也不知到底在哪里。
