人差方程(personal equation)人与人之间的反应时间的差异。英国格林威治天文台台长马斯基林(Maskelyne,N.)于1795年因发现其助手观测天体通过子午线的时间总是比自己观测的迟了半秒钟,台长认为其助手失职而辞退了他。二十年后德国天文学家贝塞尔(B essel,F.W.)对此事进行了研究,发现一些很有经验的天文学家之间观测同一天体通过子午线的时间也各不相同。这样,不仅澄清了积案而且把两个观察者所观测到的时间上的差异称为人差方程。实际上,这就是两个人的反应时间的差异。 (金志成撰林仲肾审)
