   中央厚边缘薄的透镜。在光疏介质中使用时,能对入射光束起会聚作用,故又称会聚透镜;因其焦距为正,又称正透镜。透镜两个球面的曲率中心的连线称主光轴。对厚度可略的薄透镜,两球面的顶点可看成重合在一起,重合点称薄透镜的光心 。主光轴上物点至光心的距离称物距,用s表示;主光轴上像点至光心的距离称像距,用s¢表示。物距与像距的关系由下述高斯成像公式给定:
