太阳电池（solarcell）
太阳电池能将太阳辐射能直接转换为电能。目前，所有航天器包括宇宙飞船、人造卫星、空间站、宇宙探测器和航天飞机等，几乎都采用太阳电池，以硅太阳电池为主，有单晶硅、多晶硅和非晶硅太阳电池三类。它们是利用了光生伏特效应。当用适当波长的光照射非均匀半导体（pn结等）时，由于内建场的作用，半导体内部产生电动势（光生电压），从而可输出电压或电流。这种由内建场引起的光电效应，称为光生伏特效应。同质pn结，异质pn结和肖脱基势垒均能产生光伏特效应。除硅材料外，硫化镉、磷化铟、砷化镓和砷磷化镓等也能制成太阳电池，它们的光电转换效率高，消耗原料少，但造价高。
