【来源】
为禾本科植物大狗尾草的全草或根。
【植物形态】
大狗尾草 一年生草本。秆直立，高50～120厘米。叶线状披针形，长lO～40厘米，宽5～15毫米，无毛或上面有庞毛；叶鞘边缘常有细纤毛；叶舌退化为极短的纤毛，圆锥花序圆柱形.下垂，长5～15厘米，主轴有柔毛；小穗椭圆形，长约3毫米；刚毛通常绿色，长5～15毫米；第1颖广卵形，先端尖，有3脉；第2颖有5脉，成熟时第2花(谷粒)背部先端稍裸露而甚弓弯，退化小枝(芒状毛)与花序轴甚叉开。花果期7～lO月。 生于荒野及山坡。分布江苏、浙江、江西、湖南、湖北等地。
【采集】
春、夏、秋三季均可采。鲜用或晒干。
【性味】
性平，味甘。
【功用主治】
清热，消疳，杀虫止痒。
【选方】
①小儿疳积：大狗尾草三至七钱，猪肝二两。水炖，服汤食肝。 ②风疹：大狗尾草穗7钱。水煎，甜酒少许对服。 ③牙痛：大狗尾草根一两。水煎去渣，加入鸡蛋二个煮熟，服汤食蛋。(性味以下出《江西草药》)
