性质:又称大黄素-7-甲醚。橙黄色针状晶体(由醋酸重结晶)。熔点206~207℃。难溶于乙醇、丙酮,易溶于苯。遇氢氧化钠呈红紫色。在浓硫酸中呈红色。为一种地衣蒽醌色素。存在于地衣Xanthoria parietina Z. Fr. 及灰绿曲霉(Aspergillus glaucus group)以及弗朗鼠李(Rhamnus  frangula L. )的树皮、波叶大黄(Rheum undulatum L. )、鸡爪大黄(R. tanguticum  Maxim)的根茎中。由萃取而得。用作天然染料。
